As we look back on another amazing Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS), we are delighted to share some of this year’s highlights and celebrate the talented chefs who excelled in the Chefs’ Competition. The 9th edition of the MEDYS made waves in the port of Nafplion, with the two days of the competition filled with incredible gastronomic adventures for all participants and the esteemed judging committee, whose task was undoubtedly challenging.
This event brought together some of Greece's best chefs, each eager to showcase their prowess in a clash of culinary creativity. Their task? To craft dishes that harmonised with the theme of “Cooking the Orange,” infusing their creations with the vibrant Mediterranean essence.
Against the backdrop of the enchanting Argolis Region, renowned for its charming capital Nafplion and its orange groves, this year's competition celebrated the vibrant flavours and aromas of the orange. Chefs embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, exploring the fruit's myriad dimensions, from its tangy zest to its refreshing acidity.
This year, we were thrilled to welcome two culinary virtuosos to the judging committee, each adorned with Michelin stars: George Papazacharias from Delta Restaurant in Athens, the only restaurant in Greece awarded two Michelin stars, and Luca Piscazzi from Pelagos Restaurant at the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, awarded one Michelin star. Alongside them, brokers Stefania Cappielo from Mondovela SRL and Alma Laganara from Bluewater lent their expertise to the judging panel.
